Angie Gets Organized

This is why I'm trying to get organized...for my family. I am a strong believer in family meal time, but I know that without a little planning, it will be hard to keep us all together. It will also be easier to spend money foolishly on prepared foods or fast food. I love trying out new recipes, so this is my site to pass on recipes, while also organizing them into a meal plan. I hope it helps you to keep your family together. I would love to hear what others are having for dinner, or see a new recipe or two! Feel free to leave me some feedback in the comments section...at least then I would know someone is reading this!

It's not gourmet...just good food!

Free Pampers 3 pack sample

Visit pampers.com to sign up for a free sample (3 pack)!

cheap Huggies wipes at Walgreens

Get some cheap baby wipes at Walgreens this week. Look for coupons in the store paper, plus take off additional $$ with coupon from Sunday paper or at coupons.com. Looks like you should be able to get a tub of wipes for about $1.00, depending on the coupons you use. The post at iheartsavingmoney.com says that if you buy 10 tubs, you'll not only get them for a $1.00/tub, but get $5.00 register rewards as well. I'm still learning the Walgreens bargains, so someone let me know if this is true!

Great Trade-In Event at Toys R Us

I couldn't find out a lot about this event, but apparently between now and Feb. 20th, you can trade-in old baby products for 25% off coupons for new baby items at Toys R Us and Babies R Us. It appears you have to trade in old car seats to get a discounted car seat, or trade in old cribs for new cribs (like products for like products). I believe if you do a google search on "Great Trade-In Event- Toys R Us", you should be able to find a list of participating brands and items.
Dennys.com is advertising FREE breakfast!
On Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 6am-2pm, Denny's is giving away FREE Original Grand Slam breakfasts to their customers. Details on the website. Sounds like a good reason to get together with a friend!
let's see if this works...
Hopefully this will tell you that if you become a fan of Heluva Good dip on facebook, you can register and recieve a coupon for a free product.

Let the hunts begin...

Thank you all for your interest in the blog. Tomorrow, all the new sale flyers come out...time to hunt for the best sales and match those coupons. I'll be posting what I find to be the best deals...I hope you all will share any with me that you find. I'll hopefully also be planning the next week's menu so that we all have more time to shop for our sale foods. Let me know of any good recipes that you might have to match up with a good sale item. Happy hunting!

Menu for 1/30-2/6

Here's the menu for this week, starting this Saturday. Take time to get to the store by this Saturday to get some good deals. I'm using mostly sale items in my menu this week, so hopefully, we'll see some good savings.

Saturday: Slippery Ham potpie

Sunday: Tortellini w/pasta sauce, salad

Monday: Hamburgers, homemade potato wedges

Tuesday: Chicken Italiano, broccoli

Wednesday: Beef Stroganoff (crockpot recipe)

Thursday: Hot ham and cheese sandwiches, tomato soup

Friday: Shane's birthday...going out!

Notes/recipes for this week's meals:

*buy extra hamburger and chicken this week while they're on sale. Good staples for the freezer!

*buy ham loaf mix this week. It's on sale at Butcher Shoppe for $2.59/lb!

Slippery Ham potpie: Cook off 1 ham hock (shank). Reserve broth. Strip the bone of the ham. Add water to broth to make 4 cups liquid. May need to add some ham bouillon, if the broth is not tasty enough. Heat to boiling. Add 2 peeled and sliced potatoes. For potpie dough: Mix 1 egg, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 6 Tbsp. COLD water in a small dish. In large mixing bowl, measure 1 1/3 c. flour. Add liquid to make a stiff dough. Knead several times and roll out as thin as possible on floured surface. Cut into 1 inch squares. Drop into boiling broth, pushing them under the boiling broth if needed. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. I double this recipe for my crew, since it's such a family favorite.

Totellini w/ pasta sauce: Tortellini on sale for $2.00/bag at Giant. Sauce on sale for $1.00/jar at Giant. Salad on sale at multiple places. Should be a cheap meal.

Hamburgers, potato wedges: Hamburger on sale $1.99/lb at Giant. Stock-up!! Potatoes B1G1 at Weis and Giant. For potato wedges: Slice 6 large Russet potatoes into 8 wedges. Season with season salt (we prefer Tastefully Simple brand). Bake at 400 degrees till desired tenderness.

Chicken Italiano: Chicken on sale $1.99/lb at Giant, bowtie pasta on sale at Giant $1.00/box. Bacon on sale $2.00/package at Giant. Broccoli on sale $1.00/bag at Giant. Fry 1/2 lb bacon in large skillet until crisp. Drain, reserve 2 Tbsp fat. Remove bacon from pan. Cut chicken into bitesize pieces. Cook in reserved bacon fat, along with 4 cloves of garlic, until done. Remove chicken from pan. Add 4 large, chopped tomatoes, (or 2 cans chopped tomatoes), 2 Tbsp water, 1/2 c. chicken broth (if have on hand--if not, add water and chicken bouillon), 1 1/2 tsp each basil, oregano, thyme, and marjoram, and 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper. Cook for 10 min (or until most of liquid has evaporated). Return chicken to tomato mixture, lower heat. Boil bowtie pasta in separate pot. Serve chicken and sauce over pasta. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and parmesan cheese.

Beef Strganoff: Stew meat on sale $2.99/lb at Giant. Use coupon for egg noodles (in Sunday paper 2 weeks ago, I think). Coat meat in flour, salt, and pepper. Cook meat in skillet, on medium heat until browned on all sides. Drain. Spray inside of slow cooker with cooking spray. Place meat in cooker. Combine can of cream of mushroom soup with 1 c. whole milk or half and half. Add 1/2 c. chopped onions, 1 Tbsp worchestershire sauce, 2 tsp beef bouillon granules, and 1 tsp garlic powder. Pour soup mixture over meat. Cover and cook on low heat 5-6 hours. Increase heat to high; add 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, and cook till cheese is melted. Serve over egg noodles.

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches: Bread is $0.50/loaf at Weis!!

First things first...

My main goal in starting this blog is to not only keep me accountable and organized, but to pass on anything I can to my other mom friends. I hope that all of us can benefit. I was organizing my coupons the other day, matching coupons to sales, and was so hoping to find a local site that did this for me. I searched and had no luck, so I thought that maybe I should just start my own. So, on my site, I would like to incorporate all the things that I usually get from multiple sites and things that I cannot find anywhere else.

*Menus (either weekly-based on sales, or monthly...we'll see which works out)

*Coupon matchups for local stores

*Online bargains

*Organizing and cleaning tips (not my own, of course, since I will be learning from the flylady.com)

We'll see what this year brings...hopefully by next Christmas, I will have a more organized house, and less debt. I want to be a better steward of the gifts that God has already blessed me with.
